About the Presentation
In 1902, following a series of lectures he had given to expanding theosophical audiences in Europe, Rudolf Steiner, scholar, doctor of philosophy and author, accepted the invitation to found the German Section of The Theosophical Society on the stipulation that he was free to continue to develop and expound Anthroposophy, the name he gave to a new spiritual/philosophical revelation based on his direct spiritual perception and research.
The German Section thrived under his leadership, a major theme of his work focussing on the question posed to him about whether Theosophy needed a Western/Christian spiritual movement to complement its Eastern emphasis. He addressed this question with a wealth of insights and revelations showing a completely new way of experiencing the Christ, free from dogma, doctrine or tradition.
Then in 1909, Annie Besant and C.W. Leadbeater announced that the future ‘world teacher’, the bearer of the Maitreya Buddha and the ‘reappearing Christ’, had been found in the person of a 14 year old Indian boy, Jiddu Krishnamurti, whom they adopted, devoting the resources of the TS to educating and preparing him to take up his role upon reaching the age of 33.
Thus began the karmic convergence that resulted in Steiner’s departure from the TS in 1913 and the resultant formation of The Anthroposophical Society. The TS meanwhile formed The Order of the Star of the East whose task it was to prepare the world to receive the ‘reappearing Christ’. In 1929 however, at his inaugural public address at age 33, Krishnmamurti rejected the role foisted upon him and dissolved the Order.
This talk will try to glimpse the karmic threads of this three-way convergence, and identify its ongoing effects to-day.
